Bienvenidos! Welcome to Spanish class.
Periodo 2/Spanish 1: This course is to enable students whose heritage language is Spanish to develop, maintain, and enhance proficiency in Spanish by providing them the opportunity to listen, speak, read, and write in a variety of contexts and for a variety of audiences including the family, school, and the immediate community. The course will allow students to explore the cultures of the Hispanic world including their own and it will enable students to gain a better understanding of the nature of their own language as well as other languages to be acquired.
Periodo 4/Spanish 2:
This course is for native speakers of Spanish who have some contact with spoken, if not written, Spanish in their home environments. The purpose of this course is to help these students develop and refine reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. Emphasis is also placed on the enhancement of the ability to send (both orally and in writing) and receive information with increasing accuracy.
Periodos 1,5,/ Introduction to Spanish:
In this course, students will learn and participate in activities which introduces Spanish vocabulary, grammar, simple conversations and survival skills in the target language. As well as, the students will learn and use reading, writing, listening and speaking skills in the target language.
Periodo 3/ Spanish Pre-AP:
This course is a full year Spanish course designed to continue to expose native Spanish speakers/ Dual Immersion participants to the themes, concepts, grammar, activities and tasks found on the AP Spanish Language and Culture exam. This course is the final course in a two-year sequence of courses intended to prepare students for the rigors of high school Spanish. This course will be conducted primarily in Spanish. This course will provide students the opportunity to achieve an intermediate-high level of proficiency as measured by ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) standards.
